WHO IS MARY SHANNON?

Mary Shannon is a powerful Bible teacher and author, whose great love for Jesus and for Scripture inspires her audience to “get their face in the Book!” Her background is rich with spiritual upbringing rooted solidly in the Bible. But as a self-professed recovering perfectionist, for much of her Christian life she was bound by a performance based theology - God’s affection and approval were contingent on toeing the line of legalism. Most comfortable in a ball cap and ripped jeans, Shannon is a mother of 2 adult children, an experienced school teacher, and a gifted story-teller with a sassy sense of humor and a fresh transparency about the messiness of life: a recipe providing her with fresh insight and ample illustrations that can make you laugh and cry as she brings the Bible to life for the ordinary person.

From the moment we could sit still in our mother’s arms, we have loved stories. Stories around the supper table are some of the best moments in life and are the times we best come to know these people we call family. Much of our heritage is learned through the passing down of stories. This is exactly how the Bible was passed down for generations yet today people seem to believe that the Bible is a list of do’s and don’ts instead of a beautiful story of love, betrayal, forgiveness and redemption.

Shannon uses her knowledge of Scripture to put the story back together again. Many people have several pieces of the puzzle, yet they have no idea how it all fits together in the greatest love story ever told. This is what Shannon does! She has an amazing way of connecting the pieces while sharing some of the funniest yet applicable personal stories you have ever heard.

One minute you are laughing and the next minute you realize that the Holy Spirit just spoke and you have an “aha” moment that will stay with you forever.
